Our Bargain Chair

I have been wanting a modern rocking chair to match the aesthetic of our house but I don't want to pay a modern price of $800 or more. And lets be honest, glider chairs look terrible and belong in a rest home. I found a rocking chair months ago, but wasn't able to buy it in time before it went out of stock. So I have been hunting for a while now. After many hours of frustration I gave up on a new chair for myself.

Mike has been going to yard sales with me every Saturday looking for a chair we could refurbish. I was even looking on Craigslist twice daily for something but we kept coming up empty handed. Until Friday. We went to a few Goodwill stores in the area with no luck till we stumbled upon this treasure....

It took us 2 days to reupholster it, and make it as modern as possible. I am pleased with the results considering it was our first attempt at anything like this. Enjoy some snap shots from our experience.

It is starting to come together

Who this chair is really for

But I like it too

Mike proud of the work that we have done. He was the handy man and I was the seamstress

As you can see it has been a long process but it was fun to do something for the baby together. It is our first piece of furniture for the baby's room and I think both of us are pretty pleased.

Now all I need is a nursing stool or ottoman and I am all set with my rocking chair.

How neat! I have always wanted to recover something but I am afraid.

I loved the whole post. Aiden loved the one with Mike and Chief. He giggled for like 5 minutes, which was funny all on it's own. ;-)
I like the chair. You did a good job. Can't wait to see you soon!!
