Insulin

Here is my new life until the baby comes.
My new diet consists of carb counting and a very timed regiment of eating. Here is the quick easy breakdown...

6:00 am-test morning blood sugar
8:00 am- eat breakfast consisting of 45 carbs
12:00 pm eat lunch consisting of 60 carbs
2:00 pm test blood sugar
eat snack consisting of 30 carbs
5:00 pm check blood sugar level
give insulin shot of 5 units
eat dinner consisting of 75 carbs
9:00 pm eat snack consisting of 30 carbs
11:00 pm bed time

Giving myself the insulin shot is the hardest part of this, however I seem to be doing well with it, but can't wait to give up my syringe habit soon.

How awful! How did this happen?

I have had gestational diabetes apparently for about 3 months, and it went undiagnosed since Mike and I were moving. Since I just barely started seeing my new doctor this is why the diagnosis is coming in so late.

Also since i have had it for so long, they decided to put me on insulin for the remainder of my pregnancy so that way my insulin levels are stable and hopefully baby will be born healthy.

So true Ash, I couldn't handle it for months on end or even worse the rest of my life. Plus I think Mike is about sick of me complaining about being hungry and all the time.
