Today I am officially 24 weeks pregnant! Baby is still around the size of a papaya or ear of corn so around 8 or 9 inches. Today was a fun day since I was able to see our baby right before my doctor appointment.
At my 20 week doctor appointment I was told that they were not able to get all of the proper spinal measurements and that they were concerned with how dilated the kidneys were. They wanted me to go back in 4 weeks for a follow up ultrasound to re measure the spine and see if the kidney problem had cleared up.
Today was the day of the follow up ultrasound. I went to the radiology lab this morning. I was greeted by a male tech that asked if I was ready to go find some twins. I laughed and told him I am pretty sure there is only one baby in there but I was game to go find another. Thankfully we did not find twins, maybe next pregnancy. ;) This morning I made sure not to drink or eat anything sugary that could potentially make the baby move around a ton. Thankfully by doing so the baby cooperated for the tech. He was able to get all the measurements he needed and was able to re check the kidneys.
The kidneys are indeed still dilated but he said they are within normal range but can't say for sure if there needs to be worry or not. So I have to wait till the ultrasound report gets to my doctor for her to review and wait for her phone call. I want so badly to hear that our baby is healthy but even without hearing those words from the medical team I know deep down that our baby is healthy and will just fine.
On a positive note we were finally able to get a profile picture of our sweet baby.

Since I like comparisons so much these days lets compare how much our baby has grown in 16 weeks.

I cant get over how much our little one has grown in such a short amount of time and looks even more baby like. Today was a little bitter sweet; it was sweet because I was blessed with being able to see our baby but it was bitter because Mike was not able to be with me. The ultrasound tech asked where my husband was and I told him, "Down in Fort Rucker in the MTP course." The tech got a smile on his face and said, "Well then we are going to need to make a few videos then aren't we?"
Now tell me what pregnant woman is going to say no to that? Especially a pregnant woman who's husband is 500 miles away? I wasn't about to say no. So here is a special treat for all of you, a short video of our baby moving around.

Oh, I have so much to say! What an awesome ultrasound tech to give you videos! I am so glad that the baby was cooperative, and you should trust your mommy gut feeling that everything is okay! Mike sounds like an adorable daddy! And I was so relieved to hear that it was not twins - let me share a story with you. Last night I was tucking Bella into bed and I usually hand her a toy or something so she doesn't whine when I leave the room. I saw the adorable quilt you made her and I handed it to her. We had our usual talk about who had made it for her, my best friend, not my sister (she sometimes thinks my sister made it). I told her you were going to have a baby, and then she went to bed. Well, this morning she brought the blanket down and said, mommy, this is from your friend, and she is going to have two babies. I didn't hear her right and I said, yeah, she is going to have a baby. And Bella, said, no, two babies. I was worried she might know something no one else did, so I was relieved when you said that it wasn't twins! Love you girl! You are one hot mama!
