Phew....Braces? What are those?

I have had the pleasure of wearing braces for the past two and half years. Nothing is better than being a 23 year old woman and being mistaken for a 17 year old girl. People would say, "Oh! You're married?! you don't look old enough at all, you look like you would still be in high school." I will not miss comments like that one bit.

I had my braces removed on Wednesday and it was a glorious hour long appointment. Before I had my braces put on I made sure to have Mike take a "before" shot of me, so I could compare when I was all done with wearing them. Here is my before picture.

During the past two and half years I have been through a lot to be able to get straight teeth. I had Orthognathic jaw surgery. Essentially for that surgery they broke my bottom jaw moved it forward about 1/8"-1/4" and then secured it with 6 screws, 3 on each side. Recovery was rough but it was well worth it.

Now that surgery is behind me, all the monthly adjustments I am proud to show off my teeth. It was a long process but worth every moment of pain and soreness I experienced. Here are the results!

Sadly Mike had already deployed when I had them removed so he hasn't seen me at my after point. (But Bebe's if you are checking my blog from half way around the world...what do ya think? And also Mike I love you and please be safe.)

Ya, you look great!! I had braces for 5 years during 4-9 grade. KIDS ARE MEAN and I hated every minute of it. But I remember being in high school and taking my nephew to the doctor cause I was babysitting and having a grandma say "what elementary school do you guys go to?" Ya the worse thing you could say to a high school teenager!!! :) ha ha. but at least I can laugh about it now. Have A GREAT HOLIDAY!!!
