Ouch! My face!

Last night from 5 to 7 pm I was in a bit of a time crunch. Within these two hours here is what I needed to accomplish.
-Do hair for job interview
-Make Dinner
-Change clothes for job interview
-Get to interview early that started at 7pm

So here we go.....I decided to curl my hair for my interview so I could look all fancy-shmancy. I was almost done just working on the top front section when BAM! I burned my face right next to my right eye, in fact just barely missing my eye.

Needing to feed Mike I put down the curling iron went to the kitchen and whipped up some yummy vegetable calzones. Mmmmmm.....good. Then I went and changed into my outfit and brushed my teeth. By this time the burn had surfaced and became swollen, it needed to be covered since it looked like I had been socked in the face. I threw on some concealer and went to my group interview.

I came home after the interview ate my din-din hung out with my little family and called it a night. During the night my burn had blistered up. Not remembering that I had a burn on my face I went to scratch and itch on my face and accidentally popped my blister. All the liquid came gushing out on my pillow, it was really sick.

In the morning I decided I was in need of medical attention. After all I have a 2nd degree burn on my face and I don’t want it to get infected or scar. So I call my doctor's office to get an appointment and the woman tells me, "Ma’am, you will need to go to the ER to be seen for any burn injury that has happened in the last 24 hours." I am thinking seriously? I was under the impression the emergency room was to be used for emergencies. Apparently the Army does not see it this way. So after I went to my second interview I decided to swallow my pride and go to the ER.

I walk in and the staff asks me what I need to be seen for. I tell them, "I burned my face last night with the curling iron and the White clinic (my dr's office) sent me here." The woman chuckles and replies of course they did because they are lazy. She hands me paper work and tells me to take a seat. After waiting about 40 min. I was taken back to see the doctor.

When the doctor came to my room he asked me when was the last time I had a tetanus shot booster. I just looked at him and said, "Ahhhhhh........ahhhhhhh......ahhhhhh, I don't know." He asked it was more than 5 years ago and since I couldn't remember the last time I had been poked so I said yes. I was given some antibiotic zinc cream and a tetanus booster and this sweet snoopy band-aid

The doctor told me I would not have any scaring and apologized that my clinic had sent me to the ER. Here is a picture of my with my super sweet snoopy band-aidAs you can see I love my snoopy!

Seriously, the emergency room! It cracks me up that you forgot about it, didn't it hurt? I'm with Camille though, at least you got a cute band aid, and next time they ask about that tetenis shot, you can say, "yes, I have had one, bah!"

You are truly a great wife...you get burned but still have enough love for your husband to feed him. Mike is so lucky he probably doesn't even realize it!
